Art Walk: Meet Peter Small Through His Sculptures

on October 3, 2020 By CJ Spirito | art show public event
Peter Small was a prolific sculptor and produced hundreds of pieces throughout his life. He began working with clay in the 1980s, and the human head was his most constant subject. He enjoyed experimenting and perfecting new techniques, such as the "ribbon" technique (in some of the sculptures above), which involved creating delicate patterns with "ribbons" of clay to form a more significant structure. Peter passed away in 2013, and about 20 of his sculptures found a new home at RPS.  We are very grateful to have these art pieces on our land and are excited to share them with others.  We hope you will join us for an Art Walk to learn more about Peter and his work.   When: Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Where: Rock Point School, Burlington, VT

Newly Restored Trails at Rock Point

on September 30, 2020 By Molly Huddle Coffey | News Feed
We are excited to share that the Rock Point Trails Plan to restore and upgrade the walking paths on the Rock Point peninsula is finished! The plan included construction and improvements on many trails, including popular trails to Sunset Cliff, The Point, and Eagle Bay. Timber and Stone, LLC completed the trail work, adding wooden boardwalks and stone steps, and widening gravel paths. These improvements will make the trails more accessible, preserve the land from erosion, and protect local plant species. Additionally, they added more signs to guide public access.

Under the Trees: Summer Enrichment

on July 13, 2020 By Molly Huddle Coffey | summer
Our math teacher, Hans Manske, was challenged to create an Enrichment curriculum for Remote Summer Session that could encourage students to engage with the natural world in their backyards or neighborhoods. His inspiration came from his love of nature and the beautiful trees surrounding Rock Point School.

Our beloved Mo Reilly, former Director of Community Development, has moved to the countryside of Eastern Vermont to be with her partner full time!
