Meet and Greet: New Staff 2015

Posted by Molly Huddle Coffey | September 15, 2015

This year we are welcoming several new staff members! At the end of last year, we said goodbye to some truly excellent Residential Educators. Courtney, Selina, and Joe have gone on to graduate programs around the country and all are continuing their work in Human Services. Kate, our head of dorm, and Collin got married and are persuing their love of adventrure, teaching school in Mexico. We will miss them, but we have been lucky to find new educators who bring their own gifts to Rock Point. Let us introduce them!

Our new Residential Educators are already bringing their own passions, energies, and enthusiasms to their work and we are only in our second day!

IMG_0581Kelly Ainsworth comes to us from Saint Michael's College. If her red hair and winning smile look familiar, that's because Joe is her big brother! Kelly worked as a staff during the Summer Session and already loves all things Rock Point! We are so lucky to have her positive energy, kindness, and willingness to try just about any activity on our staff!

IMG_0579Ethan Smith has worked in experiential education for the past two years, leading hikes on the Long Trail and challenges on the low ropes course for the Farm and Wilderness Questers program. Ethan's passion for the outdoors is contagious and we can't wait for students to head out on the trails with him!

IMG_0583Atticus Cullinan is a graduate of Bard College and a linguist extraordinare! His interst in language and traveling, as well as hiking, kayaking, and board games will be an asset to our dorm program.

We also have some new faces on the academic staff! Our Science teacher Mari is getting ready to welcome a new baby in October. To support her and the students through this transition we have two new teachers!

IMG_0593 Frank Guillot will be teaching chemistry this year after a long haitus from teaching! He has been connected to Rock Point for a long time through the Episcopal Church and we are thrilled he has decided to join our teaching faculty! His experience as both a teacher and a professional architecht (his job for the past 40 years) will be invaluable to us!

IMG_0595 Lorraine Carter-Lovejoy will be subbing during Mari's maternity leave. Most recently, Lorraine taught math and science for 3 years at a local therapeutic alternative school. She also has experience working at summer camps and enjoys small, family-like learning communities. When she’s not teaching, Lorraine enjoys telemark skiing, ultimate frisbee, biking, crocheting, and watching too much Netflix. She says, “Rock Point feels like a compassionate, kind, fun community and I'm so glad to be a part of it for a bit!”

IMG_0597After 21 yearst teaching math at Rock Point, Linda Koulouris has decided to step back from teaching full time! She will still be working as a math tutor and bookkeeper at the school. Our new math teacher, Franko Salesce, comes to us after teaching at Burlington High School's Summer Transition Program for five years. Franco's interest in math and technology should keep things fresh in the math room!

Liz_Wolf_2-808698-editedFinally, Liz Wolf, brings 17 years of experience to our new position of Learning Specialist. Liz has worked in schools accross the country, and will be working one-on-one with our students to help them with their learning goals. Liz will also work with our teachers to help them create accomodations and adaptations that would be most beneficial for our students. We are thrilled to have Liz join our team of educators and give us the benefit of her expertise!

We are happy to welcome these staff members to our community! They bring with them knowlege, experience, and many new ideas that we know will benefit our school. If you would like to learn more about our staff, new and returning, check out Our Staff Pages.
