Rock Point School : May 19, 2026

Rock Point School participated in the 2026 Vermont “Battery Bonanza” recycling contest. This program educates both students and teachers, as well as their community on how to safely manage and dispose of batteries. It aims to reduce hazardous waste and promote sustainability.
Students at Rock Point collected, organized, and sorted batteries before then shipping them to The Battery Network. There the batteries will be safely recycled and critical materials will be recovered. We received many donations of used batteries from our community neighbors, staff and students. We organized batteries and sorted them based on their respective materials, voltage and corrosion.
We had a lot of fun learning about batteries and how to properly dispose of them. We appreciate everyone who donated their batteries and helped with the organizing and sorting. It is very important to dispose of batteries properly or give them to people who can dispose of them safely to prevent fires and to help keep valuable materials out of the waste stream.
