Learning with Generator Makerspace

generator tour

This week students had the opportunity to take a trip to Generator, a makerspace in downtown Burlington. Generator has art studios, classrooms, and access to creative technology like 3-D printers and plasma cutters! The plasma cutter in the metal workshop was a big hit during the tour, and a few students are eager to try it out in the future.

For the past few years, our students have attended workshops at Generator and made everything from t-shirts to woodwork. There are so many options to try, including a jewelry studio, sewing studio, woodshop, and metal shop. This year, they look forward to learning with the makers at Generator and trying out some new things. And of course, we appreciate running into alumni and RPS board member Robin Lloyd-Miller, a volunteer at Generator.

We are thrilled to work with Generator to allow students to explore the intersection of technology, science, and art. This hands-on learning can open up career options and new creative outlets. We can't wait to see what they make!
