¡Bienvenidos a Nicaragua!

This morning six students and two staff set off on a trip to Nicaragua! Last night, students traveled to Boston and were graciously hosted by the Yelardy-Morganstern family so they could make their flight out of Logan today. We are traveling with Compas de Nicaragua for the fourth time and are excited to continue our relationship with this awesome organization! While our group is there, they will be learning about agriculture, environmental issues, and the economy and culture of Nicaragua. Students will tour Managua and La Paz, visiting a volcanic lake, an art museum, and a botanical garden just to name a few highlights! In La Paz, students will meet a Farmers Co-op, tour an organic coffee farm, and learn about Bio-gas cook stoves. While they are in Managua, our group will be spending time with Women in Actiona group of 40 women who are organizing health, education and income generating programs in the poorest settlement of La Primavera (Springtime). They will tour a health clinic, a local school, and spend time with the women in this settlement, learning about their daily lives. Throughout their travels, our group will be staying with Nicaraguan families and experiencing a cultural immersion! Stay tuned for updates and photos on our Twitter and Facebook pages!
