Rock Point School will host its annual Arts Festival on March 27 and 28, 2026, a two-day celebration highlighting original student work in visual art, digital media, creative writing, and theater. The showcase is free and open to the public.
“Each year, we are proud to open our doors and celebrate the creativity of our students,” said C.J. Spirito, Head of School at Rock Point School. “The arts are an essential part of a Rock Point education. They give students space to express themselves, think creatively, and build confidence through meaningful work.”
The festival begins Friday evening with a campus-wide student art exhibition featuring visual and digital artwork displayed throughout the school. Student artists will be present to discuss their creative process and inspiration. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
“Every Rock Point School student takes art class every day, and beyond that, art is deeply woven into everyday life at school, from dorm activities to classroom curriculum and even how students choose to spend their free time,” said Waltz. “Because of that, there’s a lot to celebrate at Arts Fest, where students can showcase work they’ve created at any point during their time at Rock Point.”
On Saturday evening, students will perform original ten-minute plays written as part of a collaboration with the Vermont Young Playwrights' Project. Students are responsible for writing, acting, set design, and costumes, guided by Rock Point School’s Academic Coordinator Abbey Baker and Art Teacher Jeannie Waltz.
“I’m always excited for the Arts Fest! It’s something we students look forward to after weeks of framing artwork and actors practicing their lines,” said Chelsea D., a Rock Point School senior. “It all pays off. I’ve written a 10-minute play every year I’ve been here, which I’m really proud of—one even won an award. But that’s not the main reason I love the plays and the art display. I love them because they’re creative outlets where I can share my ideas, emotions, and imagination. Everyone’s creativity is unique, so it’s a chance to show it off.”
Both events are free and open to the public. For any specific questions about Rock Point School’s Arts Festival, please contact Mary Hamilton mhamilton@rockpoint.org.
Art Show Friday, March 27, from 5:00 - 7:00
Come to our annual Art Show opening at RPS! Wander the school and see the amazing art our students have produced in class this year, enjoy some delicious snacks, and chat with our artists about their work! The show will be up for the entire weekend for visitors to enjoy, but don't miss the snacks at Friday's opening.
You're invited to enjoy student-written ten-minute plays performed in the library on Saturday evening. Each year, we work with the Vermont Young Playwrights' Project to learn about how to write a ten-minute play, and this performance showcases the fruits of our labor. Students do all the writing, acting, sets, and costumes for this show!
Our students have been working hard on these projects, and we are eager to share them with our community.
