The students of Rock Point School are incredibly pleased to announce their 13th annual art show. The art show, called “The Road Less Traveled,” features a body of work created this school year from the freshmen through senior classes, a small collection of art from alumni, and a series of portraits of the children of Rock Point School staff members, gifted by our art teacher, Jeannie Waltz. Rock Point School students take an art class five days a week. The underclassmen take a hands-on Art History class and often create art based on the particular movements and styles they are studying. The seniors take a “Studio in Art” class, which allows for more freedom in the mediums and styles within their art. In addition to these classes, students take afternoon electives classes, where they can choose from several creative options including, but not limited to, photography, jewelry making, stained glass, and fiber arts amongst others. As a result of these opportunities, Rock Point students often have a large body of quality artwork. Students have chosen their best work and have made them gallery-ready. Rock Point School will be exhibiting this work at the Rose Street Gallery, located at 78 Rose St. in Burlington, VT. The show will be up in the gallery for approximately one month. We will be holding an opening reception on Friday, May 3rd from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and it is open and free to the community. The opening will be a great opportunity to see our fantastic body of work and meet the artists. Refreshments will be served. All works are sold unframed, unless specified.
Did you know…?

25% of all sales help support the Rose St. Artists’ Gallery

10% go towards the art program at Rock Point School

That means 65% supports student artists.

When you buy a work of art at the annual art show, you will support a budding artist and two non-profit organizations!

Refreshments prepared by the class of 2012 with the exceptional help of Andrew Rowan and Andrew

THANK YOU to The Rose St Artists’ gallery, who have been generously hosting our student work for over ten years and especially to Jennifer Blair who has become our reliable “go to” person at the gallery.

The seniors worked very hard to make this art show possible. They have spent over a month preparing for this opening––from promotion and creating art, to hanging work, and baking. It is with a very big heart that I say, without them, none of this would be possible, and I truly thank them for their efforts.

The Rock Point School Drama Club will perform three short, student written plays on March 23rd at 7pm in the school library. Two juniors wrote the plays after working with a professional playwright for the Vermont Young Playwright Festival. “Foot Soldier” and “Infantry” center around a military General with a penchant for puns, while “Locked Out of Heaven” explores what happens when Saint Peter loses the keys to the pearly gates. We look forward to the statewide festival in May, but in the meantime, come enjoy this free performance!
